Papers may be
regular papers (up to 8 pages, including all references, tables, and
figures) or communications (up to 2 pages). Please contact
the Program Chair Guido Gerig
(gerig at miccai2005.org) for questions related to paper content.
We strongly encourage authors to respect the following guidelines:
Due to the
large size of the Scientific Review Committee (more than 120
researchers from around the world) and the diversity of operating
systems they use (including Windows, Mac-OS, UNIX, and LINUX) we are
using the Adobe Portable Document
Format (PDF) for submission and
review. If you do not have a converter, please visit Adobe to purchase a converter or to
use their free trial, or visit www.pdf995.com.
LINUX/UNIX users should use their local ps2pdf converter or GSview. Other
formats will automatically be rejected by the paper-management system.
Papers may be regular (up to 8 pages, including all references, tables,
and figures) or communications (up to 2 pages).
The paper
will be reviewed in double-blind
fashion (authors and reviewers have no information about the
other). The authors thus have to ensure that their submited
document is anonymous. Please refer to the anonymity guideline page.
Papers not
complying with these rules will be removed from the reviewing process.
When writing your paper, keep in mind that your submission these main
criteria:
Relevance
to the MICCAI community
Originality
of the work
Clarity of
the presentation
Solidity
of the methods
Soundness
and persuasion of results and discussions especially with respect to
validation issues
Clinical
relevance of the work

GENERAL
INFORMATION
MICCAI 2005,
the 8th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer
Assisted Intervention will be held on October 26th to 30th 2005 in Palm
Springs (web site: http://www.miccai2005.org).
MICCAI is the
premier international conference with in-depth papers for medical image
computing, computer-assisted intervention and medical robotics. The
multidisciplinary nature of these emerging fields brings together
clinicians, bioscientists, computer scientists, engineers, physicists
& other researchers who are contributing to, and need to keep abreast of,
advances in the methodology and applications.
Full details
can be found at the Conference Website: http://www.miccai2005.org

SUBMISSION OF
PAPERS
We invite
electronic submissions for MICCAI-2005 in one of the following
formats (LNCS style, double blind review). The web-site for submission
will open in March 2005.
- 8-page
papers (oral or poster presentation): Regular papers will be
reviewed by members of the review panel, and assessed for quality and best
means of presentation. Besides advances in methodology, we would also
like to encourage submission of papers that demonstrate clinical
relevance, clinical applications, and validation studies.
- 2-page
communications (short poster only): Two-page contributions will be
reviewed by a specific review panel, and will be assessed for
quality. Short papers should relate to preliminary results of
scientific work, reports of clinical applications and validation, new ideas
or embryonic research, or software dedicated to clinical
applications with validation. Short communications will not appear in the
proceedings.
TUTORIAL
PROPOSALS
Tutorials
will be held on October 26 and will complement and enhance the
scientific program of MICCAI 2005. The purpose is to provide educational
material for training new professionals (students, clinicians,
new researchers in the field). They will also provide discussions
of technical and application issues. Proposals should be sent to
the tutorial chair Larry Staib (staib at miccai2005.org).
